I always hear people say that we “deserve better” when something bad happens, and until recently I’ve always thought well, of course we do! I’ve come to realize that we truly don’t. We may want or see something better, but that doesn’t mean that we deserve it.
We deserve nothing.
No, we deserve less than nothing. We deserve death. We deserve to be tortured and punished.
The only reason why any human that has ever lived can be free from such a deserved punishment is because of our savior, Jesus Christ. We are free because God became man just so that we could be.
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:8
We don’t deserve the freedom that we have in our Lord. It is completely from His love; that agape love that we can’t possibly comprehend.
